In 2016, Julia was appointed by the UCB SPH Dean to a health executive team charged with recommending relevant curriculum and competency changes. She continues to serve on this taskforce.

Kaiser Permanente Research Division - National Research Community Advisory Board

Julia was selected to serve as a national representative on research initiatives and patient engagement advisory panels.

National Association of Community Health Center, Health Center Excellence & Training Committee

In this committee, Julia identifies priorities for education, training, and technical assistance for NACHC constituencies.

City of Oakland Sugar Sweetened Beverage Commission

Appointed by the Oakland City Mayor, Julia led the advisory commission recommending use of $12M generated by local city soda tax.

American Public Health Association

In 2014, Julia began serving as a member of the Association’s By-Laws Committee to review policies and governing structure. She continues this role today.

State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology

Julia was appointed by the state to advise on health and safety recommendations for the state’s salon industry.

Julia has also served on additional advisory boards for the Women’s Foundation of California, California Wellness Foundation, Asian American Pacific Islander Multicampus Research Program, National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum and the East Bay Municipal Utility District.
